Archive for August, 2009

This is the ULTIMATE.

This month of August, for some reason, I’ve been greeting a lot of people. Apparently, many of my favorite personalities were born in this month: HJ on Aug. 3, HB on Aug. 16, and KB on Aug. 21.

I am greeting someone again. Actually, his birthday was yesterday but I want to post my greeting today, making him the last one I’ll be greeting. Saving the best for last, you may say.

He is what you would call my Ichiban. Because of him, I’ve discovered the only welcomed ‘storm’ in my life. I got to know five wonderful people whose music never fails to lift my spirits up. And because of these five people, I also met a lot of amazing individuals whose interests are the same as mine.

DoS (Extreme Sadist),

Sawada Shin,
Domyouji Tsukasa

Whatever they may call you, for me, you are MATSUJUN. My favorite Arashi member and my favorite Japanese male artist.

A long time ago, I made a slideshow in slide.com for Jun. I made some quick edit to it and posted it here.

I never thought I could fall more in love with this song. However, after seeing GD perform it live, I just did.

Oh my God, he is so amazing!!! Hearing it live makes the song more powerful, beautiful, and unbelievable.

On a side note, I’ve always thought after seeing GD’s album photoshoot (the one with him holding an apple) that it looked like he was influenced (aside from the issue with Lee Jun Ki) by Death Note . Actually, it’s a cross between Death Note and Twilight. After seeing this performance, doesn’t he remind you of Yagami Light? White clothes, blond hair plus an apple. Hey, where’s Ryuk???

Finally, some kind soul has uploaded the video in YT and now I can post it here.

Arashi is flying, flying!!! So cool.

That was their opening number.

Everything is so elaborate for these guys. That’s why their concerts are super awesome. And they run around a lot -doesn’t stay on the stage all the time- so people can get better view of them. They also wear flashy clothes for the audience’s sake, so they could see them even from afar.

Fireworks, water fountain, balloons… everything is just wonderful.

@1:03 mark, they sing 5×10. It starts at Matsujun’s part. Look and hear how he’s singing from the heart. And when they sang the “Arigatou” part, it gave me chills. Soon, baloons are flying.

Amazing number of concert attendees. Well, I’m not surprised. Arashi always attract large crowds.

Recently, I discovered about a true story of a dog named Hachiko, an Akita who is known for its loyalty to his master. According to it, Hachiko’s owner is a university professor. For years, Hachiko saw him off from the front door and greeted him at the end of the day at the nearby Shibuya Station. This is their routine everyday. However, one day, the professor suffered a stroke at the university and died. He never returned to the train station. And everyday, Hachiko waited at the train station for his master. This goes on for 10 years, until his death.

When he died in 1935, his body was stuffed and kept at the National Science Museum of Japan in Ueno, Tokyo. Hachiko is considered as a hero. He symbolizes what loyalty is all about. In 1934, a statue was erected at the Shibuya Station, where he waited everyday for his master.

In 1987, a film was made based on Hachiko’s life and story. It is aptly titled, Hachiko Monogatari (Tale of Hachiko). I watched this fanmade video of the 1987 film, and even with this, I cried. It was so sad but so sweet. This is why I love dogs.

Now, a remake of the 1987 film is about to be released in the US in October, 2009. Hachiko: A Dog’s Tale stars Richard Gere, Joan Allen and Sarah Roemer. Here’s the trailer. I will definitely watch this one.

I love dogs and I love dog movies. It’s just kinda ironic that I always end up crying every time I finished a film.

The 51-second video that started it all.

This is kinda late. That’s because, honestly, I don’t really want to post this here. However, I figured that would make this blog a little biased right? Because even though this is some shitty news, it is STILL news.

So, Kim Hyun Joong and Young Saeng were spotted in Hong Kong waiting for 2 girls and finally leaving in a taxi.

I don’t know all the details and everything is just swelling up. I don’t want to repeat what others have all said so I’ll just direct you to blogs that have some lengthy post about this issue.
